1977 Muhammad Ali Autographed Typed Contract Letter - Herbert Muhammad & Ali
Typed and signed letter, dated October 6, 1977, on Herbert Muhammad Enterprises letterhead serves as a contract between Herbert Muhammad  and his client, Muhammad Ali and Larry Messier, a longtime member of Muhammad Ali's entourage and inner circle. The document outlines the arrangement between Ali and Messier and details the amounts to be paid to Messier for any completed business transactions he brings in. Ali has signed at the bottom in black ink just below the signature of Herbert Muhammad, his longtime agent. Note the gold embossed boxing gloves at the top of the letterhead!
From the collection of Larry Messier, a colorful character, businessman and promoter (he promoted the Ali vs. Semenko fight in Edmonton, Canada). Messier also designed and produced many of the "lucky" coins that Ali was famous for keeping in his pocket to be used for coin tricks and as gifts to fans. Larry was the uncle of the great hockey Hall-of-Famer Mark Messier.
