African Cone Shaped Basket Bowl Raffia Star Flower Uganda Deep Coiled Two Tone
Deep Coiled Raffia two tone Basket Star Flower from UGANDA Africa.
This basket has a conical shape the "flat portion" of the base (not flat, it goes inward) measures about 2" inches from side to side, the coiling is tight, the sides of the basket then lift up and out to a maximum of 13.25" from side to side, the height is roughtly 4".
The coils have been measured as it is the case that for many cultures the size of the coil gets smaller as processes modernize:
Rim / Top Coil: 9.3mm
All Other coils range at around 8.8mm wide.
Good condition, this is part of a lot found at an estate and this one was the top basket that took years of dust, there were many attempts to get it cleaned up but there is still some residue left, pictures were taken prior a moist cotton rag attempt was made which did leave it looking much better. Also bottom of the basket has some wear and tear.
