In the ancient tradition of African weaving, come new, yet old, works of art and utility. This stunning piece is a mbenge basket, traditionally used to cover other containers, particularly pots or other baskets. Baskets are also used as gifts, decorative items, and for ceremonial purposes.
The weaving fibers are from the Ilala palm, while the colors come from various indigenous roots, leaves, berries, and other materials, usually soaked and boiled for many days. A basket this fine takes weeks to produce. It comes with an informative card with the name of the artist. This is also a Fair Trade product, which means the creator received a fair wage for her amazing skills. This is a one-of-a-kind original! It is a true collector's piece, beautiful decor, educationally rich, and the perfect present!

Returns and Refunds
Returns are happily (okay, just politely) accepted. Please contact us first, so we know to look for it. Then repackage the item carefully, and ship it back in any way that is easiest for you. Once it arrives, we will inspect it, and if it is in original condition, we will then refund the price paid, minus shipping, in the same manner in which it was paid.
