Antique African KUBA Tribe Congo Tight-Weave Coiled Lidded BasketFor your consideration is an authentic antique tribal artifact from Africa - a lidded basket container with a round form, most likely for food storage
Kuba People of Central Congo (today's DRC, Congo-Kinshasa). The Kuba inhabit the central parts of Congo, in the Kasai and Sankuru river valleys. They are best known for the historical Kuba Kingdom, also known as the Kingdom of the Bakuba or Bushongo, which flourished between the 17th and 19th centuries. Kuba grow and cultivate corn, cassava, millet, peanuts, and beans as staples. They hunt, fish, and grow raffia and oil palms both as a cash crop and for use in their intricate textiles and basketry
