Antique Ethiopian woven grass basket with leather piping & decorative shell trim

Description

Ethiopian Harari Basket, coil built of reeds and woven natural dyed grasses as the design, leather bound foot and rim with four straps decorated with three applied cowrie shells each. A shallow bowl form with footed base having a decorative geometric pattern in tones of red, maize and sienna.
Interior with signs of sun bleaching in comparison to the vivid underside, Minor signs of wear and use, overall fine condition.
