These beautiful hand-woven baskets are from Ghana, West Africa. The “Bolga baskets” are all natural baskets made from elephant grass. The elephant grass grows wild and is harvested, dried into straw then woven be the women of the village. The men primarily tan the goat hides and work the leather on the handles. The weavers/leather crafters of the “Bolga baskets” are mostly farm families from the historic town of Bolgatanga. The families have been weaving and selling these handcrafted works of art for generations! The purchase of these baskets is helping a farmer in Africa. The specialized weaving process makes these baskets strong yet flexible, they can be reshaped or washed by getting them wet with water and forming them with your hands. Rewetting baskets every now and again will actually add flexibility to the natural fibers and extend the life of the basket. These beautiful baskets handcrafted by farmers in Ghana are green, sustainable and long lasting. We hope you will have yours for years to come
The Basket you are purchasing is basket# 1121,  a 16" wide x 14" tall Market Basket with orange, purple and all natural grass colors. Every basket is a unique handcrafted piece of artwork so sizes are approximate and may vary slightly. We ship all of our baskets in 14x14x14 boxes fully shaped and ready to display or use, others ship flattened and the buyer must shape themselves. All baskets are shipped FREE next day FedEx with tracking provided.
When purchasing second third or fourth baskets at the volume pricing discount the added baskets will be randomly selected colors. If buyer sends us preferred color choices we will do our best to ship in the colors of the buyers choice.
