Naturally Holey Beach Stone, Coquinoid Sandstone
Tumbled by the tides and time.
Wild caught by me along the shores of the Treasure Coast.
The stone is 3” x 3” x 1/2-1 1/4” thick.
The hole accommodates 20 gage wire
1. through the tube running down the back of the head and coming out
the mouth (this tube hole is shown in the third photo),
2. from the top of the nose through and out the bottom of the nose, and
3. through the eye space currently shared with a button shell. The eye space if you were to remove the shell, and that is your option, is larger at approximately 1/8” x 3/8”. I try to get it to you as I have found it along the shore. I found that button shell as part of
mother ocean’s sense of humor and artistry.
It is speckled shades of grey.
The backside has a few pits.
The entire stone is worn with edges rounded.
Solid, not at all flimsy.... weighs in over 5 ounces.
Easy to look through. How cool is it to look through the eye.....
