Naturally Holey Beach Stone, Coquinoid Sandstone
Surf-tumbled by the tides and time.
Wild caught by me along the shores of the Treasure Coast.
This stone is approximately 7/8" x 1 1/2" x 1/4-3/4" thick.
The hole is large and long at about 7/8" x 1/4”.
It is speckled gray/tan color.
It is a very smooth stone, nicely rounded.
Fits nicely in your hand for clear vision through that large hole.
I present it as it was caught. Very nice specimen. Beautiful in its simplicity! Unique.

Hag stones have occupied myth and magic folklore for centuries.

Hag stones are stones that have a
naturally occurring hole inside them. These stones are often
found along the coastal points, beaches, and streams. These
holes occur from the elements
beating down upon them over
many years.  There are also speculations that these mysterious
stones may have been formed by a “worm hole”. A Hag stone is
also known as a Witch Stone
or Adder Stone or Holey Stone and
has quite a bit of lore and many magical properties associated
with them.  Part of the folklore is that if you look through the
holes you can see fairies.
