The drawing is an original, hand-drawn artist's proof by Zang Auerbach, "brother of the legendary Boston Celtics basketball coach Arnold 'Red' Auerbach." Zang is the artist who designed the Boston Celtics' logo and also the logo for the 1950's era Washington Senators baseball team. He also did covers for Life and other magazines, including well-known images of "Presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, Washington Senators owner Clark Griffith and astronaut John Glenn."
Mr. Auerbach was a friend of the family. I received this item directly from the family.
Please Note
: Mr. Auerbach originally had the drawing taped to a wall, and as such there are parts of the paper that show signs of where tape has left a mark. The paper itself, which is heavy stock, is taped to the matte that can be seen in the images, and I didn't want to try to remove the tape. It appears the part of the signatures covered by the matte may be cut off and/or taped over. The matted drawing is in a basic black frame.
