Description
Rocky Marciano Autograph (PSA/DNA) on 1956 World Series Game 7 Ticket Stub. PSA/DNA authenticated and encapsulated. Almost certainly the only one in existence.Rocky was a baseball hopeful before he was a professional boxer, having tried out for the Fayetteville Cubs (a Chicago Cubs farm team) in 1947. He was cut from the team, returned to boxing, and the rest is history.
Rocky retired from boxing in April 1956, and must have gone to the World Series Game 7 that fall. There, my grandfather probably had met him in the stands or outside the ball park and asked for his autograph. My grandfarher, a huge sports fan and a higher up in the IBEW union, found ways to get to big sporting events. He passed on when I was two. The autograph went to my Dad, who was never a collector, and he handed it over to me, since I was big into autograph collecting in my early teens.
PSA authenticates this autograph to be the real deal. Of course, I already knew this, because why else would my grandfather have kept and passed this souvenir down to his son, who passed it on to me? I have never been a boxing fan, so I offer this one-of-a-kind piece of history to the real boxing fans out there.
