Description
This isone of several vintage collectible items, from a local estate,
that I am listing this week.
They include old & new pottery, glassware, games and toys.
Great back story on this signed Rocky Marciano flyer that dates back to the late 50's or early 60's! In 1946 Gloria Vanderbilt (Anderson Cooper's mother) announced she would no longer pay her mother, Gloria
Morgan
Vanderbilt her annual allowance of ,000. When her allowance was cut off, Ms Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt sold her diamond which Jack Werst acquired. Mr Werst was a local jeweler here in Milwaukee and friends with another local jeweler Oscar Rohr. In the late 50's Werst decided to sell the ring and turned to Rocky Marciano to help promote the sale. Glossy flyers were made featuring the undefeated heavyweight boxing champion and the diamond. Oscar Rohr was able to meet Rocky and got an autographed flyer. How cool is that? And now it's time to pass it on :>) It's truly my pleasure to offer this fine piece and the start price leaves plenty of room for some fun bidding.
This piece does show some age and wear. There is a portion missing on the right side which was probably from pulling it out of it's plastic sleeve. There is a rip just above and corner bends and edge wear. There is slight discoloration as well. This will be shipped in a shallow box, insured and will require a signature at delivery. The aforementioned is included in the shipping price listed above.
