Paesina stone is a variety of Alberese limestone which can be found in all the Northern Apennine mountain areas of Italy. It is the most singular example of "pictorial stone" in the limestone family. Because of the depictions it is able to conjure up and because of its specific origin, it is also called: landscape stone, ruin stone, ruin form limestone or marble, and Florentine marble.
This stone was selling for 55,000 Italian Lira at the time it was traded for.
Price includes shipping to USA 48 states.  Sorry:  No international shipping.
NOTE about photography:  2 different lighting conditions were used to photograph this specimen.  Most photos were taken with fluorescent lighting.  The second light source used was daylight (cloudy day) which is noted on the image.  The actual color of the stone is somewhere between the colorization of the images presented here.  In short, actual color of stone is close but will vary slightly from the images presented.
